TASIS SAT Prep Course

Testtakers is making its well-established SAT preparation program available to TASIS students for the third time following its success in October 2023 and February 2024. The program will be delivered in-person at TASIS on September 20, 21, & 22 and then via the Zoom platform leading to the October 5th SAT test date. Please find the full schedule below.

Note that only students in the year of 2025 or 2026 should consider enrolling in this program. Younger students should not worry about test prep until the summer before 11th grade/IB1 at the earliest.

This program will cover the new-format digital SAT (dSAT) available since March 2023. More on the new test format here.

Lead instructor and program director Jeremy Craig has been teaching test preparation since he was an undergraduate at Columbia University where he studied Chinese history and international political economy. He established Testtakers Singapore in 2001 in partnership with Testtakers (USA) in New York. Since then he has taught and run over 350 full SAT preparation programs - most in partnership with international schools. Jeremy has written extensively on trends in testing and admissions as well as presented many informative webinars and short videos trying to make sense of things.

The focus of the program is on new techniques and strategies to apply the knowledge students already have to the context of the SAT - not tedious practice and rote memorisation. The lessons are highly interactive with kids encouraged to participate in a group setting - not a top-down “do it this way” lectures. We have worked with the following schools in the past: United World College of South East Asia, Tanglin Trust School, Overseas Family School, Singapore American School, NIST Bangkok, International School of Manila, Bali International School, MKIS (Malaysia), JIS (Brunei), Zurich International School, among many others. Our focus is on test preparation and we do not offer any add-on university placement services, talk to your school counsellors on that as they would know you best.

Most American universities have gone “test optional” for the next few admissions cycles but there is compelling evidence that having a good score will help with admissions prospects. For students applying to the many excellent European universities, many schools are accepting the SAT in lieu of other application tests.

The comprehensive fee is CHF 950 which can be paid via credit card through Stripe after registration. After registration and payment is complete the student will receive the course pack with the Study Buddy flashcard box to get an early start on things. There is a 10% discount for registration and payment before June 1st.
